FAQ

DO I NEED A PASSPORT?

Yes. If you are leaving the United States, you will need a passport that has an expiration date six months beyond your travel date.

WHAT IS THE CURRENCY IN ECUADOR?

The currency in Ecuador is USD.

DO I NEED VACCINATIONS FOR TRAVELING ON MY TRIP?

We will follow CDC guidelines for Ecuador on this question. Here are the vaccines they suggest (not required):

  • COVID-19
  • Yellow Fever
  • Hepatitis A
  • Typhoid

*Most insurances cover these vaccines. Please refer to your doctor and make sure you contact them eight weeks prior to our trip to get these vaccines administered.

WILL I BE SAFE?

Safety is very important to us. While crime is possible, we will take precautions to ensure your safety. Dunamis staff will always be with the team throughout the trip from arrival at the airport to departure. The buddy system will also be in place during the entire duration. Since Ecuador is at a high elevation (Dunamis is around 12,000ft in elevation) you may experience altitude sickness. Symptoms may include: headache, dizziness, tiredness, loss of appetite, diarrhea, & shortness of breath.

We highly recommend that you pack basic-medical supplies such as prescription medicine and OTC anti-diarrheal. Vitamin C will help you as well.

Check out: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/pack-smart for a great list.

WILL I HAVE INTERNET?

Yes. At Dunamis you will have access to WiFi. WiFi may not be the best considering the number of people on it. If there are people you are leaving at home that you need reliable contact for, please consider an international plan for your personal phone, but even that will be limited. WiFi represents the best method of communication.
